The 10th Edition of the Africa Eco Race is now underway.

Competitors for ‘The Race to Dakar’ from Monaco to Dakar have now all passed scrutineering in Monaco.

A total of 35 motorbikes, 110 cars and 34 trucks will cross Morocco and Mauritania before crossing the finish line at Lac Rose in Senegal on Sunday 14th January. 91 of them will actually be racing: 34 bikes, 1 quad, 35 cars, 9 SSV and 12 trucks representing 27 different nationalities. They were all excited and emotional at the start – last chance to say goodbye to family and friends, take a few photos they were off. Next stop Sete, where they will board the boat for Morocco and listen to the first briefing.

Some competitors participating in their first event will experience their first cultural shock as they set foot on the African continent that will seem a world apart from what they know.

For the ones that have been racing over the years, it will be an opportunity to enjoy wide open spaces and remote navigation.
