The 2019 Dakar Rally will begin in Peru and end in… Peru. A total of 10 stages is on the menu for the participants.
After some unexpected delays in announcing the 2019 Edition of the Dakar Rally, ASO (Amaury Sport Organization) has finally unveiled what’s in store for next January… and that will be 100% Peru!
For the first time since the Dakar Rally was moved to South America, the Argentine Republic will be without Dakar. Anticipated countries such as Ecuador, Bolivia, and Chile will not host any stages for 2019.
Also for the first time in the history of the Dakar, the iconic event will be held in a single country across just 10 stages.
As a departure from the unforgiving nature of the past Dakar rallyes, competitors in the cars, SxS and trucks that are forced to withdraw from a stage will be re-allowed to re-join the rally beginning on the rest day.
The 2009 Dakar Rally will begin in Lima on January 6th with the first stages taking competitors across sand dunes and ends January 17th.
A replacement for Marc Coma who left the organisation as the Sporting Director earlier this year has not been announced yet.
The 2019 Dakar Rally registration will be open from May 21st, 2018.
